|NEW LOUD AMERICANS
A comic, interactive Keynote, immersive performance and/or workshop
George and Eunice
Meet George and Eunice Blundt, two loud, naïve, abrasive-yet-endearing characters. In appearance, they are absurd caricatures; in action, they are disarmingly honest and provocative. Their organization, the NLA, exists “to preserve Americans’ right to volume”, helping Americans express their true selves, and embrace their own “inner You-ness” (pronounced “Eunice”, which creates a delusion of importance for Eunice). Eunice is the heart, the inspiration of the NLA, and George as the front man, the sales guy and promoter.
Eunice is passionate about advocating for the plight of the quiet in our society, and supporting their loud, vociferous expression at all possible times. For George it’s all about products, merchandizing, spin: t-shirts, slogans, a membership organization, and products. George is emblematic of the American entrepreneurial spirit and consumerism, while Eunice represents American self-actualization, and individual Manifest Destiny.
What the NLA does
George and Eunice may appear as a Keynote Performance, consisting of a description and Appeal for Membership. The NLA may also be presented as a Town Hall Meeting, wherein George and Eunice host an open-format sharing of testimonials, questions and explorations of examples of Loudness (which becomes a metaphor for authenticity). Finally, the NLA may be presented as a workshop, including Loud Yoga, and a group Loud Makeover.
